After years of writing PHP day in and day out, I decided to take a job writing Perl for the first time. I dove headfirst into Perl thinking the transition would be just a matter of a learning a few different function names. Perl's subtle nuances combined with years of habbits left me frustrated and confused. This talk looks at beginning life as a Perl developer from a PHP developer's point of view. I'll point out the bits and pieces that can be difficult to understand when you have a long history with another language. Once demistified, you should be able to fully understand the flexibility and power of Perl.
