Late Registration and BOF/Hackathon Updates

2011/06/14 08:47 by Matthew Horsfall (‎alh‎)

The late registration price of 150 USD went into affect 2011-06-13.

BOF/Hackathon requests will be accepted up until 2011-06-17 end of day. We have lots of room available during conference hours, and much much more room available during the training sessions.

If you're attending YAPC::NA 2011 and have an idea for a Hackathon, now's the time to set it up!

You can 'sign up' for BOFs on their wiki pages so that organizers can gauge interest. The current BOF list is available here, and there are a few more in the works!

Reminder: regular pricing ending soon!

2011/06/07 16:48 by Chris Nehren (‎apeiron‎)

As a heads up, the regular pricing of 100 USD will end 2011-06-12 at 23:59:59 EST5EDT. After this, it will increase to the late registration price of 150 USD.

Reservations -- The Story Continues

2011/05/24 15:11 by Chris Prather (‎perigrin‎)

Having gotten off the phone with the hotel just a bit ago they are actively working with us to try to make sure there is as much space as possible and people can book under the Group Rate. As such they have extended our block (which normally would have ended last Friday, May 20th) until Thursday June 2nd. That is a little over a week away.

As of this writing the breakdown on available rooms in our block is:

Sun June 26th: 8 rooms available
Mon June 27th: 14 rooms available
Tue June 28th: 13 rooms available
Wed June 29th: 28 rooms available
Thr June 30th: 48 rooms available

The hotel is monitoring the situation and will try to add rooms to our block as they become available. There is also availability in the villas, and the hotel has given us a group rate on the Studio Villas at $109 per night.

Again we still recommend calling 800-733-3211 to reach in-house reservations and leaving a voicemail message if necessary, or email reservation inquiries to reservations@hulsinghotels.com.

Reservations at the resort

2011/05/23 19:40 by Chris Nehren (‎apeiron‎)

We're currently working with the resort to resolve the issue of booking rooms. We've made contact with them and their advice is to call 800-733-3211 to reach in-house reservations or to leave voicemail messages, or email reservation inquiries to reservations@hulsinghotels.com. Further, waiting until next Tuesday when the resort can reassess the inventory might be the best course of action.

No Room at the Inn?

2011/05/13 13:54 by Chris Prather (‎perigrin‎)

So the great news is that we have had no problem booking rooms at the Venue. We love that over 240 room-nights have been booked so far, and want as many people to be able to stay at the venue as possible.

We have received reports of people being turned way, and told the hotel is booked. I’ve spoken with the hotel, they explained to me that they are currently booked solid on the Friday/Saturday (June 24th/25th) before YAPC, and the Friday/Saturday (July 1st / 2nd) after YAPC.

The Sunday through Thursday for YAPC have plenty of rooms available. If the hotel desk tells you otherwise, please ask them for whatever availability they have, and contact a member of the organization team immediately. You can email us at rooms@yapc2011.us specifically about this issue.

They will be keeping an eye on the problem dates and as things open up they’ll add rooms to those days and let me know. We have created a page on the wiki to track this.

Thank you all for making this an awesome YAPC::NA so far. Keep it up. Remember that the Room Block itself goes away May 20th, that’s one (1) week from now.

BoFs and Hackathons

2011/05/12 17:26 by Matthew Horsfall (‎alh‎)

Hey folks, some quick updates.

There's a Parrot/Perl6 BoF scheduled for Tuesday, 6:30PM to Midnight in Magnolia, and a Parrot/Perl6 Hackathon scheduled all day Thursday in Magnolia.

We've got a few other BoFs planned (ACT, Beer, Bad movie...) and some more in the works, but we're still looking! We're also looking for more Hackathon proposals and organizers.

There's still space available on the schedule during the talks Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday excepting during major events, so if there's a BoF or Hackathon you'd like to run or see happen, please let us know, and we'll see what we can do. You can reach me (alh) at hackathon@yapc2011.us, or on irc.perl.org.

Submissions will be accepted up until Friday, June 17th.

Thanks!

Schedule finalized, early bird registration ending

2011/05/03 23:05 by Chris Nehren (‎apeiron‎)

Hey, folks. Thank you all for submitting so many excellent talks and making our lives difficult regarding choosing which to accept! Our main schedule is rather finalized now, any cancellations notwithstanding. That said, we still need lightning talks!

In addition, I would like to remind everyone that early bird registration closes at 23:59:59 EST5EDT on 2011-05-06. So register now if you want that low rate!

Third round of talks accepted, 7 days left to submit!

2011/03/17 21:03 by Chris Nehren (‎apeiron‎)

We've just accepted our third round of talks for YAPC::NA::2011 in Asheville, NC! As always, just because your talk has not been accepted yet it does not mean that it will not be.

This also marks the last of our early acceptances. You now have just seven days to submit a talk for YAPC::NA::2011. We have roughly half of the talks we need, so please start submitting everything you can think of (toss rubber band airplanes around an auditorium, tell tales of undead email messages haunting your family, anything!).

Second round of talks accepted!

2011/03/05 20:43 by Chris Nehren (‎apeiron‎)

We've now accepted the second round of talks. Thank you to everyone who has submitted so far! As for the first round, please be aware that just because your talk hasn't been accepted yet, it doesn't necessarily mean that it won't be.

You've got almost three weeks left to submit talks before the deadline on the 24th. We need many more still to fill out the available slots! Don't make me start volunteering people on IRC. ;)

First round of talks accepted!

2011/01/18 18:58 by Chris Nehren (‎apeiron‎)

We have accepted the first round of talks for YAPC::NA::2011! Please note that if your talk has not been accepted presently, this does not necessarily mean that it won't be. And as always, please keep the submissions coming, as we need many more still! Please be sure to get your talks in before the deadline on March 24th.
