The only code I wrote that ended up in the Perl distribution was placed there without my knowledge, and contains a prophetic comment about its portability that later turned out to be true. But on top of this code was built the underpinnings of the CPAN in the form of ftp.pl.
Finally, 25 years in the making, we now have a twisted end to the story.
