With the launch of our new SlippyMap platform, the majority of the heavy lifting has moved from Perl to front end Javascript. This lightning talk will describe how Perl still is a relevant language to use in the new Web 2.0 world (in fact maybe even preferred). Sending XML, JSON, or other text formats is a perfect fit for Perl. In the past Perl handled much of the MVC architecture. With AJAX technology, Perl is primarily the M of MVC.
