I run http://gallowaynow.com which provides a live feed and archives of local Fire & EMS dispatch.
I'm using Perl to generate hourly archive MP3s, log channel and transmitting user information, detect and decode audio dispatch tones, and generate Twilio SMS alerts.
A tiny bit of overview on how Fire and EMS gets dispatched, a fast tour of the site, and then into the code for a tour of the perl modules and algorithms used for the neat stuff.
