Dev and ops are increasingly becoming more complicated. The days of a heterogeneous codebase are, for the most part, long gone. This applies to wider domains than just webdev and webops, too.

As I've transitioned to sysadmin, I've picked up a number of languages (Ruby, JS, sharpened my C and shell skills). These have all made me a better programmer, and a more valuable technologist in general. This talk will cover some of the benefits of being a polyglot in the hopes that others will follow.
