Vegetarian Food in Chicago at VegGuide.Org

A Plan

Go to Soul Vegetarian on Monday night. Dave Rolsky (‎autarch‎) has a car, and will plan to leave from the dorms around 6:30 or so. I will be at the TPF grant BOF before that.

Possible places to go

  • Karyn's Cooked - upscale vegan food, can accommodate groups up to 12 or so (at a guess based on the size of the place). Quite walkable from the red line, and relatively close.
  • Soul Vegetarian East - really good food at cheap prices, not sure how big a group they can accommodate. Accessible via the red line but may bit more of a walk than other places.
  • Chicago Diner - a vegetarian landmark. It's kind of far from the conference venue but also easily walkable from a red line stop.
  • Alice and Friends - far but also red line accessible.

Attendees

  • Dave Rolsky (‎autarch‎) - leaving Wednesday night so it needs to be Monday or Tuesday for me. I (Dave Rolsky (‎autarch‎)) will have a car and plan on taking at least one trip to Soul Vegetarian East, my all-time favorite vegan restaurant, in addition to whatever we do for a BOF.
  • Joe Cooper (‎swelljoe‎) - Count me in. Also leaving Wednesday night. Tuesday dinner is already provided for, right? So Monday night seems the best option.
  • Matt Reinhart - I'm in. Also leaving Wednesday night, but I'll be there Saturday afternoon if anyone wants to grab some grub before it officially begins. I'm *definitely* up for a trip to Soul Vegetarian. I miss that place pretty hard now that I've moved away from Illinois.
  • James E Keenan (‎kid51‎) - Not a vegan or vegetarian, but Dave spoke of Soul Vegetarian during the December Perl Hackathon in Chicago. We didn't make it there, but I'd be willing to try on Monday night, which tends to be the night least filled with official or quasi-official conference gatherings.
  • Michael Graham (‎magog‎) - Monday works best for me
  • Anirvan Chatterjee interested if I can get a ride, thanks
